First year of college is a time when you will meet new people, live and learn in a new community, and discover more about who you are and who you are to become. Becoming a freshman in college is one of the biggest transitions a young adult will make. Now that I have completed my freshman year, I have some more insight on the differences of college and high school, and I have also learned some things along the way.

The biggest and sometimes most overwhelming difference in college life, is that you are solely responsible for your own education. Sure you should be responsible in high school; however, college is a whole new level.

So let me give a brief introduction about myself .I am pursuing my studies from a renowned institution of India i.e. NMIMS, Mumbai. I am enrolled in an integrated course of 5 Years at the end of which I will get a degree of “Masters of Business Administration in information Technology”.

The first year of my college was full of surprises and thrill. In the past one year I have made many memories. When I first came to the college, I was very much nervous and quiet unconfident about myself that I would be able to cope up with studies and all work load. But as the days passed, I learned many skills and I worked hard to cope up with all the studies and ended up scoring good marks. Apart from academics, I also participated in co-curricular activities and college fests that were organised in college by students.

In my college all the festivals are celebrated with joy. I had a lots of fun during Ganpati, Navratri, Uttrayan etc…We also had one Technical college fest “Ambiora” and one cultural fest “Protsahan”. I also was a part of Organising committee of Protsahan.I had a great experience working with my seniors. I also was part of Debate society of our college .Many more events such as Youth Speak Forum (YSF), NMMUN, TED-ex etc… were organised in my college and I learned something new out of each event. In general, I think I have learned more than I have learned in high school so far.

My first year experience at NMIMS has taught me one fundamental thing – life is unpredictable. It might be good, it might be bad, it might be weird, and it might not interest you, but expect anything to happen. For example, you might have a wonderful job this moment, and be fired the very next moment. College life prepares you for all of this. It is a perfect blend of joy and hardships. You meet different people, you interact with them, you learn about their cultures and grow as a person. You will understand how to talk to different people, how to judge their behaviour, thus helping you with important life skills.

Summing up all in just one sentence “My First year at college was hell Awesome..!!”.
