The world in the 21st century has become a global village. India is also not far behind this technological development race. It is one of the fastest growing digital countries till date. There are multiple mediums of communication in today’s world. Be it film stars, or even the young generation of modern era, everyone these days vibe for social media platforms. One of the many technologies that has seen a gradual decline through is SMS or Short Message Service. A quick way to type whatever you need to say in a few words and then press the Send button and its done. Your message is delivered.

However this mode of communication would be seen ‘cool’ only if you were a decade older. Nowadays, it is the social media networking that is rapidly gaining popularity. Be it chatting with your friends or even messaging your boss or even watching sports and other stuff online. Social media offers you everything. The decline in the SMS can be due to the multiple benefits along with opportunities that the social media offers.

After all, you go to a Facebook page, you happen to see a possible job opening and you take it. Just an example of course, but still the way we can use communication mediums today don’t stand as a chance against the yesteryear’s SMS technology.

One can conclude that SMS, while may not be very effective and doesn’t possess benefits as the social media as a whole has offered. Therefore, we can safely assume that in the coming years, SMSs might be completely replaced by social media networking in India. Even though it might be a slow process, it is quite a possibility in the coming years.
