DESTINY- THE QUINTESSENTIAL CONCEPT OF OUR BELIEF SYSTEM

Here's a question that probably each of us have thought of asking ourselves at least once in our lifetime, "are we following our destiny? are we fulfilling the true purpose of our lives.? have we achieved what we were born to achieve? are we close to it? or has that path left us long ago?"
I happen to have a belief that each of us are born with a job profile in this society and the world,a purpose that each being as varied as it might be is to fulfill, something we owe to the world, something that as the Quran says is "maktub" or in simple words, written. That job profile is something that will ultimately make our mark in this world, but here again the question arrives that do each of us make our marks in this world? Well, that would be a no, because if most of us, in fact almost all of us often realize our destinies at very young ages, in our growing days on our path to self discovery, but decide not to follow it through, why? well maybe because of society, norms, needs and necessities.
Walt Whitman in his poetry wrote about "capre diem" , a Latin phrase meaning "seize the day" , the very fact that most of us fail to do just that is mainly the reason why we never work towards the greater objectives of life, of achieving our destiny, of contributing towards greater causes. most of us just end up becoming mechanized robots who work 12 hours a day and the rest of the 12 hang on by the quintessential yet delusional threads of hope and as a habit blame god or our destiny. The very fact that we fail to understand is that destiny is not a curse but a blessing, but only when we are courageous enough to chose the right path or as Robert frost said 'the road less traveled". Fear and blame lead us to believe that this was the best we could get or we just keep waiting for the "someday" when it will be alright.
Most of us seem to be at constant war with ourselves, uncomfortable in our own skin and completely lost senses of individuality in the race to fit in. it is probably the day this war comes to rest is when we fulfill our destinies. what we forget is that each of us was born different and unique and yet similar and repetitive and it is this perfect mix of both that makes us what we are, and maybe its time to think back, retrospect and find out what we were born to do. not all of us will find it in our destinies to become rulers and kings, people with fame and power, some of us might just have the destiny to be good parents, have a child and raise it well and on the other hand some of us might find it in us to change the lives of the hundreds of starving kids in the world. but whatever it might be,I hope it happens soon enough to tell tales about it, afterall all of us like to boast a bit right??
